The last film of Marco Bellocchio is the portrayal of Tommaso Buscetta, a former member of Italian mafia who brake ' omerta' and became an informant. Moreover, through Buscetta's life we can see the Italian mafia history during 60's-80's.
As I was a bit dissapointed from Bellocchio's latest works I didn't expect to see a great movie, but in the end I was amazed both from the direction and the plot line. Some scenes of the movie are a real masterpiece and although it lasts 2,5 hours you don't get tired or bored.
Outstanding acting by Pierfrancesco Favino, he's perfect on his role.

Il traditore csfd. Sembra l'attore che interpreto' Luciano liggio nella fiction capo dei capi. Interpretazione magistrale di Ferracane e lo Cascio nei panni rispettivamente di Calò e Contorno. Purtroppo le mie aspettative su questo film le ho dovute ridimensionare una volta visionato... I reckon, not sure that this has been televised.

Hindi Cinema has always been into off-beat movies, often called as parallel cinema or art movie. There had been actors, producers, directors who were intersted in producing such meaningful movies. These movies may not be commercially successful or may not feel entertaining to masses, but these have their place in the panorama always. To mention, Shyam Benegal, Satyajit Ray, Girish Karnad, Nasiruddin Shah, Smita Patil, Shaban Azmi and many more are the great names who have contributed to Hindi Parallel cinema. I have seen a lot and really liked them, like Paar, Suraj ka Satwa Ghoda, Pather Panchali (Hindi dubbed, I am Hindi speaker), Ek Ruka Hua Faisla, Mandi, Mirch masala, Ardhya Satya, jane Bhi Do list is endless. There have been a few cinemass which were basically parallel cinema, but got a few commercial acclaim, too. Like, Satya, Rudali, Bandit Queen (for other reasons of course) and many more. (When I had gone to watch Bandit Queen, only 8 reels were released while the complete movies was rumored to be of 18 reels. ) You can check for a few good names in the parallel cinema. If you notice the pattern, these parallel cinemas were not commercially successful. So the actors or producers off and on switched to mainstream cinema for economic advantages. Now a days, the scenario is a bit reversed. The commercially successfull actors or producers sometimes move to the parallel cinema to quench their thirst of meaningful cinema. And if you notice carefully, the established actors are not involved in complete parallel cinema; they just opt for the off-beat cinemas which have some commercial value too. You can see yourself-- Shahrukh (My Name is Khan), Aamir (1947 Earth), Tabu (Chandani Bar), Ajay Devegon (Zakhm). In the list I would rather acclaim Abhay Deol, who has not become a big star, but always gives a new edge. Dont you agree? These movies are forgettable. Not all the time can we watch serious ponder-for-a-long-while movies. If you take up movies of 70s and 80s the movies were melodramatic but with a message. Simple people, simple roles that you and I could relate. I feel late 1995-2005 had the maximum number of non-watchable movies. Not to name any but it was like the movies were made to fumble & flop. Thankfully, the off-beat movies today come with a sensible tone. In recent times the movies which were really worth watching would be Chak De India (2007), Taare Zameen Par (2007), Rock On!! But still, sometimes I love watching them (only sometimes) and I like. The 70-80s period of Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Amol palekar type movies are really worth watching.
