Although to get to this useful kernel, the audience must first sit through some truly cringe-worthy scenes that not even Jaime Camil’s charm can smooth over. It’s a message that goes down fairly heavy-handedly, but it’s possible that the movie could still move someone to be more open about what they’re going through. It’s also just as possible that the movie could leave viewers on a sour note from its bottom-shelf laughs and cheap gags. Directed by Diego Kaplan, “Las Pildoras de Mi Novio” follows Jess (Sandra Echeverría), an ambitious marketing executive with a shot at a promotion if she figures out her tequila company’s new ad campaign on a staff retreat. Her focus seems to be more on her work than on guys, especially after she turns down an elaborate proposal gone wrong from her last boyfriend. When his medicines begin to wear off, almost the moment he sets foot in the hotel, his hair begins to magically grey instantaneously and the symptoms rush back quickly. These are arguably the roughest parts of the movie, making Hank’s behavior the target of jokes. It would be interesting to see that energy channeled into a script that’s less painful to watch. If it weren’t for Camil’s performance, much of the movie wouldn’t stand up. “My Boyfriend’s Pills” doesn’t have a clear perspective, starting first with Jess before shifting to Hank and then back to Jess for the final scenes. Cinematographer Emiliano Villanueva (the 2019 Mexican remake of “My Best Friend’s Wedding”) and Kaplan don’t seem to agree on a color timing scheme, which means certain scenes look pinker and others look tinged with purple. In one dinner scene, Jess is evenly lit, but opposite her, Hank looks like he’s sitting in the shadows of “The Godfather, ” his face half cloaked with darkness. Even if that was supposed to be intentional, it comes off like a mistake. Cameo appearances by Jason Alexander and Brooke Shields make for some brief laughs, but they’re not enough to sustain a chuckle. It has great performances, tense moments and an intriguing true to life story.
Paul Walter Hauser as Richard Jewell is incredible, finally this guy gets a role that puts him in the forefront and he supplies us with one one the best performances of the year. Kathy Bates can also not be ignored, playing Jewell's mother with such wonderful love and feebleness. It's Kathy Bates at her best.
However, problems arise in this film specifically with the villain of the film played by Olivia Wilde who breaks the story of Jewell's possible involvement. They character is nothing more than over the top, one dimensionally evil. The only thing missing is the twirling mustache. She is by far the films biggest problem.
However, the film pulls through with an emotional roller coaster, great performances and an interesting true story that I'm glad was finally told.

Military Wives is as formulaic as movies go, regardless the film is surprisingly good and it uses the formula really well. However it never aspires to be anything else preventing it from becoming a classic amongst the genre.
I haven't been familiar with the true story but from the start, you just know where it is all gonna go. It still works well but nothing is a surprise because of that. It still has some great moments and a fair amount of heart
It is seriously enjoyable and it is a likeable movie with a great cast. Kristen Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan are great here.
I'm sure there are many people who will like this film. I just can't see that much greatness in it. It's formulaic and does it's best to be a lovely and charming film but it does it in such a manipulative way, and I hate it when films do that. It is still worth watching though.

I laughed, I cried and I cried some more. The last film I saw that was that moving, was Kramer vs Kramer. I loved it.

Kasvokkain ihmisestä välittyvät ensiksi lähinnä kaikki muut ominaisuudet kuin juuri se poliittinen kanta asioihin. Hänestä voi tulla fiksu vaikutelma, hän voi olla rehellinen, hän voi olla mukava, hän voi olla luotettava. Netin välityksellä paljastuu lähinnä nimimerkki ja sitten se poliittinen ripulipaska mitä hän suoltaa... Fakta on kuitenkin että nämä ihmisyyteen liittyvät ominaisuudet ovat miljoona kertaa oleellisempia kuin henkilön omat poliittiset ja aatteelliset puolet. Tämän takia en itse välitä vittuakaan jos henkilö on mitä tahansa uusnatsin ja hipin väliltä. Jos hän on asiallinen ja fiksu ihminen, on hän sitä silloinkin vaikka olisi stalinisti-kommari-anarkisti-natsi. On suuri virhe että ihmiset jäävät omiin kaikukammioihinsa nykyään kun määrrittävät ihmiset heidän aatteellisten vakaumustensa perusteella heidän henkilökohtaisten ominaisuuksiensa sijaan. Silloin jollain radikaalilla väkivaltaan taipuvaisella idiootilla on sama painoarvo kuin jollain lukeneella ja asioista perillä olevalla ihmisellä vain koska he jakavat saman arvopohjan. Ihmiset ovat paljon moniulotteisempia kuin se internetin kautta muodostettu pinnallinen stereotypia. level 1 Ihmiset on eri mieltä myös siitä mitkä on pikkujuttuja ja näkemyseroja. Yhteinen sävel ja ymmärrys ei ole se mitä tarvitaan. On hyvä että ollaan rajusti eri mieltä. Demokratian pitäsi toimia myös silloin kun ihmiset voivat olla jyrkistäkin eri mieltä ja jatkuva riita on päällä. Tarvitaan ihmisen osallistumista politiikaan muutenkin kuin äänestämällä. edit: siis politiikkaan osallistuminen toimii sitä kautta että lyödään päätä yhteen eri mieltä olevien kanssa ja on pakko miettiä yhdessä miten asiat on ja mitä tehdään. Ensin se tapahtuu helpossa ympäristössä saman puolueen sisällä. Sielläkin on ihmisiä jotka on eri mieltä. level 1 Ei mistään oikein kannata enää puhua, ihmisiä ei kiinnosta faktat vaan konfliktit. Jos sua oikeesti kiinnostaa joku asia niin löydät siitä kyllä tietoa ilman julkista keskusteluakin. Poliittinen ilmapiiri on jakautunut naurettavan pieniin saarekkeisiin, väitellään jostain häkellyttävän turhasta (kuinka paljon prosentteja missäkin myytävässä kaljassa) kun normatiiviset työssäkäyvät ihmiset jättäytyvät keskustelusta pois tyystin. Tuntuu että ihan turha seurata mitään mediaa kun kaikkialla vaan sitä samaa turhaa paskaa. Pitää itse vaan luoda omat tietokanavat ja perehtyä asioihin, niin pitkälle kuin mahdollista, kun nettineutraliteettikin alkaa rakoilemaan. level 1 Nykyään jakaudutaan yhä enemmän. Ennen ihmisiä yhdisti yhteiset viholliset ja uskonto. Nykyään yhden vihollinen on toisen kaveri, eikä uskonnolla ole enää suurta yhteiskunnallista roolia. Jakautuminen ei ole pelkästään huono asia. Tiettyyn pisteeseen asti se on välttämättömyys demokratialle. Lisäksi jakautuminen on mahdollistanut yksilönvapauksien ja individualismin kasvun. Enää ei vangita ketään erilaisuuden vuoksi, ainakaan sivistysvaltioissa. Aiemmin sinulla joko oli sama mielipide kuin muilla, tai sitten koit seuraamuksia. Kun jakautuminen alkaa saamaan väkivaltaisia piirteitä, niin voi jo alkaa huolestumaan. Ihminen on sotaisa eläin. Kun väkivalta ja viha ryhmien välillä saa tarpeeksi kannatusta, ollaan sisällissodan partaalla. Hyvä indikaattori on se, että kun vastapuolesta maalaillaan kuvaa epäinhimillisinä ja huonompiarvoisina olentoina, niin ollaan jo aika pitkällä. Tämä on ihan perus sotataktiikkaa. Ja tämä ei tarkoita pelkkää "suvakki-rasisti" huutelua. level 2 No jakaantuvathan taitaa olla ihmisen DNA:ssa. Ihan hyvän tekstin teit. level 1 Ainahan ihmiset on pelännyt kompromisseja, mikä on imo ihan vitun surullista. En mä nyt kuitenkaan huolissaan olis. Parhaiten näihin asioihin voi vaikuttaa omalla käytöksellään ja antamalla esimerkkiä. Jos joutuu ns. nettitappeluun, sitä ei kannata jatkaa vaan sanoo vaan toiselle että "OK" ja se on sitten siinä. Ei sillä internet egon paisutuksella tee yhtään mitään, ei se muuta maailmaa, ei jonkun kommentin ylä- tai alaäänestäminen tee yhtään mitään tulevaisuuden kannalta. Keskustelu harvoin netissä on mitenkään rakentavaa, varsinkaan täällä, joten siitä ei kannata pahemmin edes välittää. Lyhyesti: oot vaan oma ittes, ymmärrät muiden näkökannan edes jotenkin vaikket sitä itse seuraakaan ja osaat olla kaveria ihmisen kanssa joka on eri mieltä jostain, ja siitä se sitten lähtee. level 1 En nyt itse sanoisi, että Suomen kansa on mitenkään selvästi jakaantunut kahteen leiriin, jotka riitelisivät kokonaisvaltaisesti keskenään. Jos tämä havaintosi perustuu internetiin, niin lienet vetänyt mutkia suoriksi ja tehnyt turhan hätäisiä johtopäätöksiä. Verkko on tosielämää huomattavasti polarisoituneempi. Oikeassa elämässä selkeää vastakkainasettelua on lähinnä suht pienien ja rajattujen ryhmien välillä, joihin suomalaisten enemmistö ei kuulu. Kauheaa älämölöä pitävät vähemmistöt ovat vallanneet areenan, mistä helposti syntyy kuva, että jokin kansallinen kahtiajako olisi mukamas menossa. level 2 Olet toivottavasti oikeassa. level 1 Mitkä nämä kaksi eri ajatusmallia ovat? Uskon että monet hiljaa foorumeilla ja julkisessa keskustelussa pysyvät ajattelevat samoin. level 2 Älä ny viitti hei...... level 1 Kannattaa pitää mielessä että nykyisellään Venäjän tiedetään aktiivisesti osallistuvan eri maiden poliittiseen keskusteluun(myös Redditissä) polarisoidakseen keskustelun ja lisätäkseen jännitteitä. Tyyliin kuinka Amerikassa Venäjä buukkasi mielenosoituksen jonkun moskeijan eteen... Ja samantien myös vastamielenosoituksen samalle tapahtumalle. Hajoita ja hallitse on pelin nimi, ja Venäjä on se taho joka tuota hajottamista pyrkii tekemään.
